So, here are instant meals for you…and from JUMIA! There is an ad that is doing pretty well of social media, showing a gentleman that is about to be visited by a lady friend and knowing not how to cook, scampers up and down in the kitchen trying to make lunch for her, only to end up making a boiled mixture of all kinds spices and eggs. And that is where JUMIA comes in and delivers a packed food from the backdoor, to the salvation of the now petrified man.
NAIVAS-Kenya has not been left behind. They are coming up with online Shopping, where consumers can buy everything online and it gets delivered directly at their doorstep.
I am told that Norwegians avoid using airplanes since they are an environmental hazard. Well, I know this is a joke to Kenyans: if the airplanes were accessible to all Kenyans and especially Nairobians, we would care less of the environment. We want the fastest way of doing everything…not the process; it doesn’t matter. The fastest we can have the election results, the fastest we can get to town…we can get that degree or even get the job! How about give a few thousands and land in that dream company?
At this rate I guess we’ll soon have a shortcut to heaven. Technological advancements and the search for money and fulfilment (in the wrong places especially) continues to rob us of very important things that we are oblivious about.
Look at is this way. How about spend time with your family shopping, instead of waiting for it to find you at home and rob you of that precious time with family? How about letting your girl-friend know that you do not know how to cook and thereby invite her to a very interesting task of learning to cook with you? Why avoid honesty, learning, spending adequate and helpful time together…the process?
Consider relaxing in a matatu to town when there is traffic and just meditating about your past week or the day ahead, instead of worrying and trying to overlap hence create more traffic? Think of the Lord’s goodness in creation and even in giving human beings the brains to become co-creators?
Many people are no longer concerned with the process of doing and becoming, claiming that the end justifies the means. They see life only in terms of results, and have had little appreciation for the process leading towards results
The process of doing, being and becoming really matters. Becoming a cook is a process. Dating and getting married is a process, that has to be right. Budgeting for your money, investing and becoming rich is a process; it matters. The end does not justify the means, at all!
